Welcome to HEDGE
HEDGE is a boutique plant nursery & award winning garden design business based in Wellington, New Zealand.
We grow plants that give structure and style to a garden - from instant hedge to standards and topiary.
We specialise in designing with plants using beautiful plant combinations. We will select suitable plants for your location and set them in a semi-formal garden design.
We also do hard landscaping plans & construction detailing, bespoke custom design features in steel, and project manage contractors and gardeners to complete your project.
We have lots of photos of gardens we have designed, in our new portfolio pages. Please contact us if you are interested in our garden design services or plants.
Ellerslie International Flower Show
Rachael Matthews & co-designer Christine Prebble won a gold medal at the Ellerslie International Flower Show 2013, and a Supreme Award for their flower garden "City of Sails" sponsored by the Auckland (City) Council.
This is Rachael's second gold medal at Ellerslie - previously, she has won gold for her edible garden "Gone to Seed" & Emerging Designer of the Year.

Facebook & Pinterest
We are trying out Facebook & Pinterest as a faster and more interactive way to share ideas and let you know about things of the moment. In particular I will include brief posts, and photos of beautiful and inspirational gardens that I come across when I’m out & about online as well as visiting real gardens!
For example, I have posted pictures of visits to some of my favourite New Zealand gardens Richmond, Ohinetahi, Trotts, Winterhome and Broadfields native landscape garden, plus a recent visit to Melbourne walking around many gardens designed by Paul Bangay.
Anyone can have a look at HEDGE on Facebook or Pinterest by clicking on these links – but you will need to join up to post comments, and receive automatic news feeds and updates. If you are interested in joining Facebook or Pinterest, I am very happy to talk to you about how it works, and how to set it up and use it.
